Defend Fun

DO NOT LET NATURAL ENGLAND RUIN BRITAIN'S COMMUNITIES

When a decades old kite festival is shut down by Natural England - nothing is safe. Royston kite festival is just one of many events, festivals and celebrations that have recently been banned by bad rules, overzealous bureaucrats, and ignored by uncaring politicians. No sensible individual thinks a kite festival, run for charity, should be shut down over a required "mowing regime".

And yet under Labour's new planning bill, Natural England is set to retain massive powers to object to local events and projects. If this is how those powers are used, it will mean fewer festivals, fewer gatherings, fewer moments of shared happiness.

We call on Natural England to state they WILL allow the kite festival at Royston to go ahead in the future and that they will NOT stand in the way of community events.

We also call on ministers to instruct Natural England, and all quangos, that community events are vital, that quality of life matters, that charity and local economies should thrive and these events must go ahead.

Stop Natural England. Defend Fun.

Britain faces growing misery. Bureaucracy, regulation and over-caution are crushing treasured traditions, time-honoured festivals, and small pleasures. The war on fun has seen many casualties.

LFG is fighting back. We're holding politicians who prioritise bureaucracy over fun accountable. LFG and our chapters across the country are going to defend fun.
