1. Back British Creators. ⌄

   The Government is attempting to force social media companies to “privilege” content from big established companies like the BBC over those produced by independent content creators. Effective censorship like this stops jobs, money, and personal growth. To support new, growing creators, the Government must immediately abandon all attempts.

2. Quangos aren’t forever. ⌄

   Unelected bodies are blocking growth. They must have an expiry date and be renewed every 5 years by the Government. Those that deliver government policy should be folded back into the department; independent regulators would need reconfirmation by parliament; and other state bodies like the NAO could stay independent in perpetuity. To achieve this, the Government must pass primary legislation that explicitly places an expiry date on arms-length bodies in the UK.

3. Axe the tax trap on working parents. ⌄

   Parents are being punished simply for having children. A tax trap between £60,000-£80,000 means parents are facing an effective tax rate of over 50%. To give parents their pay rise back, the Government must change the High Income Child Benefit Charge so that 1% is clawed back every £400, not £200. This should be done through a Finance Bill amendment to Chapter 8 of Part 10 of Income Tax (Earnings and Pensions) Act 2003.

4. A pay rise must mean a pay rise. ⌄

   A parent with two children could need a pay rise from £99,999 to £150,000 for it to be worthwhile because all childcare support vanishes at £100,000. This is pushing people to avoid promotions or to cut down their hours, damaging productivity in industries across the public and private sectors. This damaging tax trap must be abolished and replaced with a 3% per child contribution on all income over £100,000. To achieve this, the Department for Education must amend childcare regulations under the Childcare Act 2006 to remove the £100,000 condition on the 30 state-funded hours; and the Government must similarly remove the £100,000 condition from the Tax Free Childcare Scheme at the next Budget, replacing it with a clause introducing a 3% contribution on net income over £100,000 per child benefitting from childcare subsidies.

5. Force MPs to sit this summer. ⌄

   Radical action is needed now, not only in September. National emergencies are not paused over the summer because MPs aren’t sitting. Industries will continue to collapse, companies will continue to go bankrupt, families will continue to struggle to afford the basics, and people will continue losing their jobs. The Government must write to the Speaker and demand that he recalls Parliament immediately.

6. Make Pints Legal. ⌄

   Drinking pints in the stands at men’s professional football games is illegal. Fans should be able to enjoy the same experience that fans at other sporting events in Britain can. Therefore, the Government must pass the Football Act so it is legal to drink alcohol in the stands at all football matches, overriding provisions made in the Sporting Events Act 1985.

7. Scrap Stamp Duty on residential properties. ⌄

   Young people can’t afford to buy a first home, move cities, or start a new job in part because of the impact that stamp duty has on the housing market. The Government must scrap it on residential properties by moving a Budget resolution under the Provisional Collection of Taxes Act 1968 that cuts stamp duty by one third, effective immediately, and publish a full three-year transition schedule for the remaining cuts. These cuts should be confirmed at subsequent fiscal events, and eventually completed with the full abolition by the repeal of Section 55, Part 4 (ss. 42-140) and Schedules 4ZA, 4A, 9A, and 6ZA of the Finance Act 2003.

8. Give Britain its Sunday Back. ⌄

   The British people have lost their Sundays because the Government makes it illegal to open shops for longer than 6 hours. These archaic, outdated laws must end. The Government must repeal the Sunday Trading Act 1994.

9. Scrap Stamp Duty on shares. ⌄

   The UK has the highest tax on investment of any major economy, and it’s showing – we’ve fallen to 23rd in the global IPO rankings. We must make it easier to invest by scrapping Stamp Duty and Stamp Duty Reserve Tax on shares – some estimates suggest it could increase GDP by 0.7%. Through a Finance Bill, abolish Stamp Duty and Stamp Duty Reserve Tax on share transactions, and set the 2027 single securities tax rate at 0.

Britain used to build roads, railways, homes, and power stations. But now, we've stopped building stuff. We must learn to build infrastructure once more. Here's how:

1. Build Beautiful Windows. ⌄

   3 in 4 people prefer traditional sash windows to those in new builds today. The problem is that sash windows are effectively illegal in Britain. To make them legal once more, the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government must amend Approved Document O as per the Building Act 1984 and Schedule 1 of the Building Regulations 2010 to return the guarding-height expectation to 800mm, cut the free-area minima to 45%, and loosen the glazing maxima so they never fall below 35% in the whole house, or 40% in the most glazed room.

   Townhouses have been banned by excessive red tape. Let’s build them once more. The Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government must pause the unlaid national M4(2) mandate and the Mayor of London must cut London Plan Policy D7’s blanket M4(2) requirement to no more than 50%. Both must still keep the 10% M4(3) wheelchair standard and M4(1) baseline in full.

3. Build Beautiful Streets. ⌄

   The cost of a bespoke planning application often prevents small companies from building new homes. To remove the majority of the cost from the application process, government could pre-approve designs. Without any need for primary legislation, the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government must publish a national pattern book of regionally-coded developments and a model Local Development Order, which any council could adopt with minimal customisation.

4. Make Streets Beautiful. ⌄

   Many of Britain’s streets are ugly and cluttered because no single authority is legally responsible for what they look like. Under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, highway authorities have a duty to cover safety, convenience, and the physical structure of their streets, but appearance is left out. Therefore, the Government must pass an Act that allows the British people to take pride in their surroundings once more by making it the statutory duty of the relevant highway authority (e.g. National Highways, TfL, local councils) to care for the physical appearance of every street it owns.

5. Build Flats. ⌄

   Current rules make flats in mid-rise buildings £22,500 more expensive and remove 7% of saleable floor area. To build more affordable flats in the areas that young people want to live in, the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government must issue an amended version of Approved Document B to permit a single, enclosed, protected escape staircase in residential buildings up to 50 metres, conditional on a European-styled safety package. This must include a pressurised, smoke-protected staircase; automatic sprinklers throughout; fire detection and alarm; a maximum escape route travel distance; and a minimum escape route width.

6. Aircon our Homes. ⌄

   There were around 3,000 heat-associated deaths in England in the summer of 2022, yet only around 5% of UK homes have any cooling, as opposed to roughly 90% in the US. This is because the Government has effectively banned air conditioning by making “active cooling” a last resort. To make air conditioning legal, the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government must: amend Approved Document O as per the Building Act 1984 to make active cooling a legitimate primary means of demonstrating compliance with the overheating requirement; and amend the General Permitted Development Order so that an external cooling-only unit within the existing 1.5 m³ envelope is permitted development on the same basis as a combined heating and cooling unit.

7. Build Fast. ⌄

   Britain’s infrastructure projects are repeatedly delayed and over budget. Parliament used to pass specialised acts and get projects built. Do it again: one act per project, exempt from planning rules and processes, with a single accountable leader, an advisory board, a fixed and well-defined scope, and pay that rewards delivery. Britain has some of the highest energy prices in the world. Long-term, the answer must be nuclear, but we have a plan to cut bills right now. The next government must pass the LFG Emergency Energy Bill on Day 1, and implement the Fingleton Review in full.

• Scrap all levies from energy bills.
• Reopen the North Sea and directly deploy the tax revenue generated towards getting bills down.
• Pause offshore wind farm Contracts for Difference (CfDs)
• Launch an investigation into curtailment contracts.
• Hold auctions for connecting to the grid, and deploy the revenue generated to get bills down.
• Ditch the duties of the energy regulators, NESO and Ofgem, towards Net Zero, so their only focus is to minimise energy costs, subject to supply security.

Successive governments have waged a war on fun. Pubs, sports, community events have been under attack. That means they're forced to put their prices up or shut down. We're fighting to bring back fun.

Large swathes of crime are now legal in Britain because the Police won't act. Streets aren't safe anymore. Professional criminals are profiteering, and we're all paying the price. Economic growth comes when the streets are safe because people invest, spend, and stay put when they feel secure – businesses open, footfall goes up, and companies don't have to employ 24/7 security.

Our political system is broken and failing to deliver. We have a plan to give our elected representatives the power to make the changes necessary to bring back growth.

The current settlement has failed young, old, and the generations in between. We'll change that.
